Hello everyone, I am Kaiden. I am starting this Mission as a non-profit. I am not fully allowed to start it alone so below your will find the official board. Here's my story:
I was diagnosed with Fistulizing Crohn's disease of both the large and small intestines with abscesses when I was fifteen. I spent most of my freshman and sophomore years of high school in and out of the hospital. In September of 2022, I spent 40 days straight including 3.5 weeks at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota away from my home, with doctors accessing the disease that was evading treatment. In the time since my first Hospital stay in March of 2022. I have been to the Operating Room 26 times & 29 hospital stays (as of April 2024). By November of 2022 my gallbladder was steadily declining and the decision was made to combine two major surgeries into one after Christmas. So on January 4, 2023 I had an extensive 8 hour long surgery, removing my 19.5 inches of my small intestines, ileum, and gallbladder. I have had two additional hospital stays this year (2022) and as of this moment I have not reached Remission with Crohn's Disease. I will continue to fight. I want teens, kids and adults who are fighting a fight like mine to know there is an organization out there to give them a break and fill their life full of fun, laughter, love and compassion, like the Thumbs Up Mission did for me and my family after my mom had cancer. They INSPIRED me to create that experience for people with Crohn's, and other diseases of the intestinal track including Colon Cancer.
I hope my mission helps connect those with IBD and bring awareness to the number of people that suffer from the diseases associated with IBD. I want everyone to know its ok to talk about Bowel Disease. I hope to help bridge the gap, so no one must feel the loneliness that kids, teens and adults experience while fighting this horrible disease like I have. My motto is one I adopted from a pastor at church, he said in my meeting with him he is leaving with 3 letters, "T.P.W." It means, "Tough People Win." Isaiah 41:10
James is an advocate in his son's medical journey as it is one he has traveled himself as a disabled vet. He has a servant's heart and lives a life full of serving others. He joined the U.S Army straight out of high school and proudly served his country. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 3rd Infantry Division as part of the initial invasion into Iraq. Kaiden came to him with this idea and he pushed back originally. It was not until about six months later when Kaiden approached him again and said he has prayed about this mission and he wanted to move forward with it. Shortly after 41:10 Mission was born. James loves to play golf, loves baseball and his favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
Sabrina is Kaiden's mom and a visionary much like Kaiden. She is the driving force behind the scenes. She is self motivated and if she doesn't know how to do something she will research until she learns how. If that is not enough she is not afraid to ask for help. She will sacrifice time for others and help no matter what the circumstances and never expects anything in return. She manages all of Kaiden's care and treatment plans without hesitation. Sabrina felt led to the ministry as a missionary years ago when she was a teen but said, "she ran for the hills." A decision she regretted for a long time. After growing closer to God, she realized her dreams were fulfilled in other ways. Her aspirations became His mission. She jokes she got that Doctor's degree when Kaiden got sick. She is excited to help fulfill the mission of 41:10 and looks forward to giving back to families that can relate to hers. She is an avid golfer and writer and is currently is working on a book. Her Favorite verse is Proverbs 3:6, "In all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight."
Chris became a Christian at the age of five. He has been deeply growing his faith for the last five years. He has been blessed to be a leader in his community by serving as a leader in student ministry. He has been an Assistant Director at Chick-fil-A for almost three years, along with leading Bible Studies. He has a heart for ministry and people. Kaiden first approached Chris in April of 2023 and asked him if he would pray and consider being on the board for 41:10 Mission, a few days later Chris accepted. Chris has been supportive of Kaiden and his journey. He looks forward to supporting this mission of 41:10 and is excited for the future of this non-profit. Chris' favorite verse is Hebrews 4:15-16, " For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. "
April is someone who has a heart for helping. She is the mom of three kids and the wife of a disabled Veteran. She is all to familiar with Chronic Life long diseases. She is an advocate and isn't scared to ruffle a feather when it comes to protecting those with medical conditions.
